Problem Statement: Enabling RPA Access Through Flexible 2FA Methods
Current Situation: Admin accounts for tenancy management are currently restricted to SMS-based two-factor authentication (2FA). This limits the ability to implement Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions for tenancy-related admin tasks, such as the bulk removal of leavers or inactive accounts.
User Need: As an organisation, I want to enable RPA access for tenancy admin tasks through a compatible 2FA method (e.g., authenticator apps or token-based systems) So that we can automate high-volume, repetitive tasks like user removal, reduce administrative burden, and drive efficiency at scale.
Why This Matters: Organisations such as Tees Esk and Wear Valley NHS Foundation Trust (TEWV) have expressed interest in automating EPR tenancy administration but are currently blocked due to the reliance on SMS-based 2FA, which cannot be managed by RPA tools. In large, complex organisations such as Trusts, this creates a significant barrier to scaling process automation and achieving digital efficiencies, relying on manual user management.
Impact if Unresolved:
· Continued manual management of tenancy accounts
· Increased risk of accounts being left active in error
· Missed opportunities for operational efficiency and workforce optimisation
· Frustration among organisations ready to adopt RPA but blocked by inflexible authentication options
