Providers often don’t know where to start with mapping their data. Providing a tool which enables this to happen in a common way will help reduce the time taken by providers to map their data; increase data quality and improve the providers experience of onboarding
The tool would allow providers to enter the source of their data (e.g. where it was entered), any transformations to the data (e.g. mappings, calculations), known data quality issues and how their data maps to the FHIR profile.
In addition to the above, the tool would be capable of outputting a partner’s provision in a standard format. This be then used by consumers and downstream systems to easily ascertain what partners are proving and make them aware of any potential data quality issues. Currently it is advised that partners provide data quality issues via the operation outcome resource, but this is hard to implement and, as far as I am aware, no provider has implemented so far due to this complexity.
