Close portal tab/window when patient context changes in launching system

During context launch of the portal (from SystmOne) it is currently possible to have multiple tabs open with different patients. This is because on each context launch event a new tab is created without closing the previous one.

This has raised local clinical safety concerns (i.e. users could accidentally refer to the wrong patient in the portal). Note: This behaviour has only been observed in TPP S1 context launch. Liquidlogic embeds a window so presumably this will not cause an issue. Nervecentre behaviour is unknown at this time.

Ideally the portal would change the existing tab to reflect the new patient, but assuming this won't be possible, closing all previously opened portal tabs and opening a new one (with the new patient) would have the same effect.

That's great, thanks for the clarification Ian. Sounds like a good mitigation for the concerns raised.

Hi Toby, all we can do is revoke the JWT from the first tab if a second is launched, effectively timing out the first session. If the user goes back to the first tab, there will be a message indicating this and the original patient data will no longer be visible

Thanks Ian - can you confirm the shipped functionality please? Does the portal redirect or close?
