Note: this Idea does not relate to the consumption of IPS Patient Summaries, but to the consumption of the traditional NRL document types (i.e. ReSPECT, Mental Health Crisis Plans, etc)
Whilst the NRL has been discounted as mechanism to inter ShCR to ShCR data sharing (i.e. IPS Patient Summaries) in favour of the Single Patient Record (SPR), that does not mean the NRL is being deprecated. In fact the NRL is one of the key National Systems that will underpin the SPR for a number of use cases (see draft architecture below)

Given it will be some time before all portal users have access to the SPR, a useful feature within the Interweave Portal, would be to see a visual ‘alert’ that a patient has documents in the NRL, to see a list of those documents, and to be able to open those documents.
Given the important nature of documents in the NRL, it is unlikely that users would want NRL documents blended with those from local data providers (e.g. where a 9 month old ReSPECT form gets lost below dozens of more recent clinic letters). As such, it might be easier if the NRL docs were kept as a discrete feature within the portal (e.g. similar to the maternity data).
Suggest that there should be an initial discovery phase to identify what would be involved in onboarding as an NRL Consumer, and to identify some high level options for how the data could be integrated into the current portal UI
