Visual indicator in Portal that a Patient is currently in Hospital

It isn't always immediately obvious to portal users that a Patient in in hospital, rather than their usual place of residence. There are a number of reasons for this, including:

  • The Encounter Summary Panel Filters on last 3 months, not status (a long inpatient stay can be older then 3 months, e.g. stroke victim)

  • Status in only shown on the expanded details section in the summary panel

  • Patients can continue to have Encounters (e.g. Mental Health Phone Calls/Visits) whilst an in patient, hence an in-progress Inpatient Encounter, could be sorted after dozens of other Encounters.

Easy sight that a Patient is not in their usual place of residence is on the the key use cases for Social Care and Community Health Users, for example many will check the Patient is not in hospital before setting off for a home visit. We have had example of where a user didn't spot that a Patient was in Hospital, as they had had +20 calls/visits whilst in hospital, that user then wasted hours attempting a visit the individual at home

As a Portal User
I would like to see a visual indicator in Portal that a Patient is currently in Hospital
So that I don't miss that the patient is in hospital, and waste hours trying to contact them at home
Other information

User Centric Design session should identify how best to show this, e.g. an 'alert' on the Encounters Summary / Detailed Panels

A potential Query that would pick up most cased of where the Patient is in Hospital would be
Encounter?patient.identifier=https://fhir.nhs.uk/Id/nhs-number|9658218873&class=EMER,IMP&status=in-progress
