NCRS access via YHCR Portal

When a patient has crucial data within their NCRS record, being alerted to the presence of this data and subsequent access to the key statuses such as FGM, CP-IS and Reasonable Adjustment would assist the ambulance crew and other health and social care professionals, to retrieve these records and triage more effectively.

Specifically for this use case, YAS would like to be alerted to the presence of Level one scenarios within the patient’s NCRS record and subsequently to be able to access the patient’s National Care Record Service, via the standard YHCR user access.

Besides the summary patient data held in GP systems, NCRS would give access to;

  • CP-IS functionality

  • Female Genital Mutilation data

  • Reasonable Adjustment data.

CP-IS is a mandated function, which is currently accessed at YAS in a standalone manner. The risk of not being aware of previous CP-IS or FGM encounters, is a high impact and YAS are likely to be the first point of contact for these types of encounters.

However less than 1% of children will have a CP-IS indicator, so YAS crews would not access NCRS routinely as over 99 out of 100 calls would not advise of CP-IS.

Therefore, we need YHCR to automatically check NCRS and where any Level 1 scenario is present, to alert the user of the presence and subsequently allow access to the patient’s NCRS record.
